I-History of Eldoria

History of Eldoria
Eldoria’s history is a saga of unification, faith, and endurance, woven from the threads of its people’s resilience and the vision of its rulers. From its origins as a fractured land of warring tribes to its emergence as a powerful monarchy, Eldoria’s past is marked by pivotal moments that have forged its culture, military traditions, and current state.

Pre-Founding Era (Before 0 E.Y. – Eldorian Year)
Before Eldoria existed as a unified kingdom, the central plains and river valleys of its territory were home to a patchwork of tribes and small city-states. These groups competed fiercely for control of the region’s fertile lands and vital waterways. Among the most prominent were:
  • The Eldar: A tribe renowned for their skilled horsemen and warrior culture, prized for their courage and mobility.
  • The Valorians: Masters of agriculture and trade, they dominated the river routes and built prosperous settlements.
  • The Riverfolk: Smaller clans along the Eldor River, adept at fishing, boatmaking, and navigating the waterways.
Conflict was common, with skirmishes over resources preventing any single group from achieving dominance. External threats, such as raids from nomadic tribes in the eastern steppes, further destabilized the region, creating a need for unity that would soon be answered.

Founding of Eldoria (0 E.Y.)
The birth of Eldoria is tied to the legendary figure of King Eldarion I, a charismatic leader from the Eldar tribe. According to Eldorian tradition, Eldarion received a divine vision from the All-Father, the supreme deity of the kingdom’s faith, commanding him to unite the tribes against a looming “great evil.” Historians suggest this evil was likely an invasion by early Drakorian tribes or steppe nomads, whose raids had intensified.
Eldarion united the Eldar, Valorians, and Riverfolk through a combination of diplomacy and military prowess. In a decisive battle at the site of the future capital, Eldor, his coalition defeated the invaders. In the aftermath, the tribes swore fealty to Eldarion, crowning him as the first King of Eldoria in the year 0 E.Y. (Eldorian Year).
Eldarion laid the foundations of the kingdom by:
  • Establishing Eldor as the capital, constructing the first royal palace along the Eldor River.
  • Proclaiming the Faith of the All-Father as the state religion, with the king as its earthly representative.
  • Founding the Royal Guard, an elite cavalry unit sworn to protect the monarchy and lead Eldoria’s armies.
This unification marked the beginning of Eldoria’s identity as a nation rooted in honor, faith, and collective strength.

Early Kingdom (0 – 300 E.Y.)
The first three centuries of Eldoria’s existence were a period of consolidation and growth. Under Eldarion I and his successors, the kingdom:
  • Expanded its territory through conquest and strategic marriages, absorbing neighboring lands and tribes.
  • Developed the Eldor River into a critical trade and communication lifeline, spurring economic development.
  • Built roads, bridges, and irrigation systems to connect the realm and support its growing population.
  • Established a hierarchical society, with the monarchy, nobility, and clergy at the top, supported by merchants and peasants.
The Royal Guard emerged as a symbol of Eldoria’s martial pride, their disciplined charges and gleaming armor earning them renown. The kingdom’s military emphasized heavy infantry and cavalry, reflecting its values of coordinated strength and noble sacrifice.

Golden Age (300 – 600 E.Y.)
Eldoria’s Golden Age was a time of unparalleled prosperity and influence, driven by wise rulers who nurtured the kingdom’s potential. Key developments included:
  • Cultural Flourishing: The Grand Cathedral of the All-Father was erected in Eldor, a towering symbol of faith and architectural brilliance. The University of Eldor was founded, drawing scholars and artisans from across the continent.
  • Economic Strength: Fertile plains yielded abundant harvests, while trade along the Eldor and Silverflow rivers enriched the kingdom. Eldorian merchants established far-reaching networks, boosting wealth and prestige.
  • Military Dominance: Led by the Royal Guard, Eldoria’s legions became a formidable force. The kingdom’s influence grew, with vassal states offering tribute and seeking alliances.
During this era, Eldoria solidified its reputation as a beacon of tradition and divine favor, with the monarchy seen as the rightful steward of the land and its people.

Challenges and Conflicts (600 – 900 E.Y.)
Eldoria’s history is not without trials, and this period tested the kingdom’s resilience:
  • The Succession War (620 – 630 E.Y.): A bitter dispute over the throne sparked a civil war between two rival claimants. The decade-long conflict weakened Eldoria, costing it territory and prestige.
  • The Plague of 720 E.Y.): A deadly plague ravaged the kingdom, claiming thousands of lives and disrupting trade and agriculture. Recovery was slow, and the monarchy faced criticism for its response.
  • The Drakorian Incursions (800 – 850 E.Y.): As Drakoria grew in power to the east, its forces raided Eldoria’s borders. The Royal Guard and legions repelled these attacks, but the prolonged conflict strained resources and heightened regional rivalries.
Through these challenges, Eldoria’s commitment to loyalty and tradition sustained it, allowing the monarchy to adapt and rebuild.

Modern Era (900 E.Y. – Present)
In recent centuries, Eldoria has found stability under King Alaric, who ascended the throne in 980 E.Y. A pragmatic yet honorable ruler, Alaric has sought to restore the kingdom’s past glory while addressing contemporary challenges:
  • Military Reforms: Alaric has modernized the legions and reinforced the Royal Guard’s elite status, bolstering defenses against threats from Drakoria and Aegea.
  • Diplomacy: He has strengthened alliances with Veridia and the Free Cities to counterbalance rival powers, navigating a delicate geopolitical landscape.
  • Cultural Renewal: Alaric has revived the arts and scholarship, expanding the University of Eldor and commissioning new monuments to inspire national pride.
Today, Eldoria faces new tensions as the legend of the Crown of Man—a mythic artifact said to grant divine legitimacy—resurfaces, igniting ambitions across the continent. With Drakoria and Aegea vying for dominance, King Alaric must balance tradition with innovation to secure Eldoria’s future.
